On December 4-5, 2024, a workshop was held in Tsaghkadzor on the topic of “Legal Writing and Research for the Constitutional Court and Court of Cassation of the Republic of Armenia.”
The event was opened with welcome remarks by Lousineh Hakobyan, President of the “Europe in Law Association” human rights organization, Marieke Monroy-Winter, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Armenia, Vahe Grigoryan, Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, and Joanna Korner, International Criminal Court Judge.
On the first day of the workshop, Dr. Gurgen Petrosyan, lecturer at the Friedrich-Alexander Erlangen-Nürnberg University, delivered a presentation on “The German Theory of Legal Methods.” ICC Judge Joanna Korner followed with her presentation on the “Production and use of Guidelines/Manuals” and “Relationship between Judges and Legal Officers.”
The second day of the workshop featured Dr. Petrosyan with his delivery on “Practical Legal Research and Legal Research Methodologies,” and stapled Judge Korner’s presentation on “Judgement Drafting and Discussion of Drafting problems.” The day concluded with a final discussion.
The workshop concluded with closing remarks from Vahe Grigoryan, Vice-President of the Constitutional Court, and Lousineh Hakobyan, President of the “Europe in Law Association” NGO.
This workshop was organized wihtin the framework of “Support to the Institutional Reforms of the Constitutional Court” project, launched in May 2023. The project aims to support ongoing institutional reforms within the Constitutional Court and is implemented by the “Europe in Law Association” NGO, supported by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Armenia.
